The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General International Affaires Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood has said that expansion of federal cabinet would put undue burden on national exchequer. Speaking at a meeting held here in connection with black day on Friday, he said, "Country is already facing economic problems and moves like increasing number of ministers would add to its financial problems."
He said when country was seeking loans from financial institutions like IMF; there was absolutely no need for expansion of cabinet as huge sums were spent on the perks and privileges of ministers. He said every possible effort should be made to save the country from the tentacles of IMF by adopting austerity and simplicity instead of going for ostentation by burying the country under the load of debt.
Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood said the move for inducting more ministers in the cabinet was aimed at accommodating coalition partners but it would cast dearly to the nation. Criticising the federal government for having soft corner for Pervez Musharraf, he said, "If government failed to hold the despot accountable for killing innocent people and abrogating constitution people wound never forgive them nor would be materialised the dream of ensuring rule of law."
He said in the eyes of law all people were equal and whoever commit any crime must be brought to justice irrespective of his status. He said the ex-dictator even did not spare judiciary and took villainous steps against it in a bid to force judges to pass judgements of his choice.
