Anti Corruption Authorities, in a trap raid, have arrested a 'patwari' and his 'munshi' red-handed for taking gratification and sent them to jail on judicial remand. According to a spokesperson of Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) here on Friday.
Rana Mahboob Ali, advocate, lodged a complaint to ACE that Abdul Majeed, patwari at Halqa Momin Pura, Tehsil Lahore Cantt demanded Rs 50,000 as gratification from his client Ghulam Hussain to issue ownership rights ('fard') of his land measuring 7 kanal 10 marlas. The same was issued after taking Rs 40,000 as bribe.
Later, his client also requested the said patwari to register mutation in his name but the patwari demanded the remaining amount of bribe amounting to Rs 10,000 and refused to proceed further in case of non-payment. The Anti-Corruption authorities decided to arrest the patwari red-handed.
Syed Zubair Akhlaq, Circle Officer ACE Lahore Region, conducted a trap raid at patwar khana under the supervision of Khizar Hayat, Special Judicial Magistrate Lahore Cantt. The raiding party arrested Abdul Majeed Patwari and his munshi Sajjad Ahmad red-handed when they were receiving Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The raiding party after recovering the amount of gratification from the accused have registered a case and sent them to jail on judicial remand.
