The South Asian countries should cooperate with each other for the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) that challenge the world's major development problems and are expected to achieve by 2015. Students of South Asia Media School (SAMS) expressed these views in their presentations on Role of Media in achieving MDGS here on Saturday.
They also said that the television is an intrusive and effective medium for creating the awareness among the people about the MDGS through dramas and talk shows. They also said that these countries should spend money on ending poverty, universal education, gender equality, child care, maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, environment sustainability and global partnership rather than purchasing arms. The presentations were made by the students of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives.
