Arabica coffee and US cocoa futures rose in a broad rally on Monday as soft commodity investors reacted to China's $600 billion economic stimulus plan that was expected to renew demand for raw materials, traders said. Arabica coffee for December delivery up 3.05 cents at $1.1515 per lb, by 10:03 am EST (1513 GMT).
Session range from $1.1285 to $1.1650. The rest up 2.90 to 4.05 cents. December volume significant at 6,384 lots. Benchmark March cocoa rose $34 or 1.74 percent to $1,986 per tonne by 9:25 am EST. The range ran from $1,951 to $2,018. March volume at a light 2,747 lots. Spot December futures were up $31 at $1,967.
