OGDC, Qadirabad gas field: Watan Party approaches Supreme Court against privatisation
Wattan Party through its Punjab President has approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan against privatisation of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited and Qadirpur gas field. The petitioner contended that cabinet committed has allowed privatisation of 37 percent stakes of the company.
The petitioner contended that Qadirpur field is second largest gas reserve of the country and if such reserve would be given to multination companies than our country would face shortage of gas also like electricity. He said respondent government is going to privatise the field without assessing total potential of the filed.
He also contended that respondent government is going to auction without calling open bids only to please International Monetary Funds (IMF). He therefore prayed to the court to restrain the government privatising the ODGC and Qadirabad gas field.
