Rotary ShelterBox (RS) has donated some 1,000 shelter boxes, including winterised tents, for the affectees of Balochistan earthquake, said a press release on Monday. It said each shelter box contains a winterised tent, blankets, water purification bottles, water purification tablets, utensils, tool kits, children kits, hats, scarf, gloves etc that is enough for a family of 8-l0 persons.
The first batch of 200 shelter boxes, having a value of US $1.2 million, had already reached Quetta and was being distributed with the help of Pakistan Army, said the press release. The remaining shipment would be reaching Pakistan next week, It added.
It said besides providing basic needs to the affectees, the Rotarians were also working out a plan for rehabilitation of the quake hit areas at the earliest. Saeed Shamsi, Rotary International's governor in Pakistan, has also appointed an Earthquake Relief Committee and established a dedicated account which was receiving donations from the Rotarians and other donors from all over the world, said the statement.-PR
