Kisan Board Punjab (KBP) has decided to launch a campaign against the anti agriculture and anti farmer policies of the government from November 22 around the whole Punjab. It is decided in the high level meeting of the Kisan Board Punjab chaired by President KBP, Khurshid Ahmad Khan Kanjo.
It was condemned in the meeting for non-purchasing of rice and cotton by Pasco and TCP and termed it, as anti agriculture policy. President Khurshid Khan Kanjo said that it seems that government is intentionally taking such steps so that it should snatch the lands from the farmers and give it to multi national companies.
He further said that government should purchase munji instead of rice from the farmers and its price should be fixed at Rs 2000 per 40 kg. TCP should start the purchasing of cotton at Rs 4000 per 40 kg and government should also give Rs 10 billion to TCP instead of Rs 1 billion.
Khurshid Khan further said that government should also reduce the prices of fertiliser, diesel and electricity to save agriculture. "Government should give interest free loans to farmers and also waived off the previous debts because farmers are not in a position to pay their former debts", he added.
