Japan is assisting Pakistan in imparting knowledge and skill developing which is a great service to be remembered by coming generations, said Imtiaz Safdar Waraich, State Minister for Communication.
He was addressing the participants at the opening ceremony of '14th International Course on Operation and Maintenance of Construction Machinery' organised by Japan International Co-operation Agency (Jica) in collaboration with Ministry of Communications at Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) here on Tuesday.
He said that as the world has turned into a global village therefore, the courses offered by CTTI are providing a chance to its students to interact with the outside world. The minister said that the use of machinery would not only save time but also provide quality work.
He said that the courses offered by the institute would provide them job opportunities easily. Senior Deputy Resident Representative of Japan International Co-operation Agency (Jica) Hajima Nabeta said that CTTI is now a recognised regional centre for imparting specialised training in engineering.
"I am sure that participants will work more efficiently in their respective countries after completing the course," he added. He said that for the last three decades, Japanese government and Jica have extensively collaborated with Pakistan for promoting vital sectors of the economy like health, education, agriculture, water, transport through grant aid, technical co-operation and ODA loans for uplift projects in all the four provinces.
"It is very encouraging for us to see CTTI successfully training to 226 - engineers from different countries in the last 13 years," he said. Earlier, Waqar Ahmad Noor, Director CTTI explained that the Course on Operation and Maintenance of Construction Machinery" is part of technical co-operation provided by Jica to Pakistan and many other developing countries.
He said that a total number of 226 foreign participants have benefited from these courses. He added that this course would impart comprehensive knowledge of major aspects of construction machinery. Waqar Ahmad Noor, Director CTTI, Secretary Communication Ministry and ambassadors of Philippine, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Bhuttan, Nepal, Uganda, Tanzania and Uzbekistan were also present.
