Around 2,000 Sikh Yatrees from India arrived here on Tuesday through Wagha Railway Station to participate in the 540th birth anniversary of Baba Gurunanak, the founder of Sikh religion. The celebrations will continue till November 20. Around 4,000 Sikh Yatrees are expected to arrive from India and other parts of the world.
On arrival at Wagha Railway Station, the visiting Yatrees were offered flowers and bouquet by officials of Railways and Evacuee Trust Property Board. Apart from attending birth anniversary of Baba Gurunanak, Sikh Yatrees will also visit historical and religious places in the city. The celebrations will start from November 14 and continue till November 20.
Pakistan Railways and Evacuee Trust Property Board have made special arrangements for the facilitation of Sikh Yatrees in Pakistan. The Board also offered lunch at the Wagah Boarder to the Yatrees. Melodious Punjabi songs were played on the occasion amid drumbeats and horse dances.
Chairman of the Board, Lieutenant General Muhammad Javed (Retd) speaking on the occasion, said that the board had made elaborate arrangements for the facilitation of the Yatrees. He further said that Evacuee Trust Property Board had made special arrangements of lodging and boarding for the Yatrees and all out of facilities would be provided to them free of cost during their stay in Pakistan.
