Punjab Health Department and Allama Iqbal Medical College/Jinnah Hospital will start joint operational research to eliminate dengue virus. This was announced by Director General Health Services of Punjab Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry and Principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College Professor Javed Akram, while addressing a seminar arranged at Allama Iqbal Medical College for promoting public awareness about the dengue fever here on Tuesday.
Addressing the seminar, Chairman of Chief Minister's Task Force and Punjab Assembly member Dr Asad Ashraf said that a panic was being created about the dengue fever and an impression was being given as disease was as deadly as Aids or cancer.
He said that people, reaching hospitals had a number of complaints about doctors' behaviour. He said that as he himself a doctor, he felt that doctors should pay attention to regaining confidence of the patients. He said that this impression was totally wrong that the government hospitals did not provide diagnostic and treatment facilities free of cost. He stressed upon the people not to allow water accumulate in pot, flower pot and other places and arrange spray in their houses.
