Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that his government gave top priority to stability of national economy and law and order. Addressing a press conference at airport here after his arrival from Islamabad here, Gilani said that the government had been taking concrete measures to attract foreign investment in the country.
The Prime Minister said that government was committed to eliminate terrorism from the country as terrorist activities were main hurdle in the way of foreign investment. Strongly condemning the suicide bomb blast at the gate of Qayyum Stadium in Peshawar, the Prime Minister reiterated the government's resolve to fight against terrorism with the support of nation till the elimination of this menace from the society.
Stating further on activities of terrorism, the Prime Minister said: "It is a cowardly act by the terrorists to sabotage the development process in the country." He said that the whole nation was united against the terrorists, as they were the enemy of the country.
Replying to a query regarding foreign attacks, he said that Pakistan's sovereignty and integrity would be safeguarded at all costs. To a question about the money exchange scandal, he said many persons were involved in this scandal, while further inquiry was in progress in this regard. He said that all issues would be resolved in the parliament in consultation with leaders of all the political parties.
"The government believes in supremacy of institutions and wants its strengthening," he added. To another question about former President Pervez Musharraf, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the parliament would decide on that. Responding to yet another question about the return of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, the Prime minister said it was his country and he was free to come.
