The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) and Women's Empowerment Group (WEG) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote women entrepreneurship in the SME sector.
The manuscript of the MoU was signed by Smeda, Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), Shahid Rashid and WEG Executive Director Omer Aftab here at the Smeda head office on Tuesday. The General Manager, Policy and Planning, Muhammad Jameel Afaqi, Deputy General Manager Administration and PR Liaqat Ali Gohar and In charge Women Enterprneurship Cell Aisha Amjad also attended the ceremony.
Under MoU, both organisations shall take concrete steps to foster and facilitate women entrepreneurship by providing guidance and support services to existing and prospective business women on different aspects of business.
Smeda and WEG shall work jointly to act as a catalyst for capacity building of women on business processes, business environment, government policies and initiatives for women economic empowerment, their rights and privileges, compliance requirements regarding starting and managing a business, and any such issue hindering the progress of women economic development.
Exchange of information shall be executed with regard to entrepreneurship, trade, economic and industrial development and related services between Smeda and WEG particularly with regard to women entrepreneurs' training workshops in rural and urban areas, market access and business match making opportunities.
