Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the top priority of the government is to ensure the provision of modern health facilities to the masses and concrete measures in this connection are being taken for the uplift of health sector.
He said this while speaking on the occasion of presentation of third party audit report of three hospitals of Lahore on Tuesday. Member Provincial Assembly Nadia Raheela, Dr Asad Ashraf, Dr Farrukh Javed, Chairman, Task Force Kamran Shafi, Special Secretary Health Dr Naeem-ud-Din Mian, Dr Amir Aziz and concerned senior officers were also present.
Shahbaz said that special attention is also being given to remove shortcomings of healthcare system. He said that the aim of progress and prosperity of the society can not be achieved without provision of health and education facilities, maintenance of law and order and surety of justice for all. Highlighting the deplorable condition of the health sector he said that health sector is suffering due to wrong policies of the former governments and even basic health facilities are unavailable to the people of far-flung and backward areas.
He said that teaching hospitals have been given financial and administrative autonomy so that they could offer better medical facilities to the poor masses. He emphasised the need to maintain transparency in the sector for that he said that the third party audit of hospitals of other major cities would also be arranged. He directed to evolve a built-in-system for evaluating the performance of hospitals so that better health facilities could be made available to the citizens.
