Administrative Food Support Scheme and Chairman Task Force for Essential Items S. A. Hameed has said that a scheme to impart technical training to poor and deserving people would be launched next year in collaboration with the Technical and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA).
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that the training would be imparted to enable them to earn their livelihood at their own. He said that a wbesite of the scheme was also being launched so as any provincial legislator could collect information of support being given to the deserving people of its constituency.
He said that 1800,000 deserving people would be registered under this scheme till January 2009 and would start receiving Rs 1000 per month support. He said that funds if left unused from this Rs 22 billion fund, would be spent on other welfare schemes.
S. A. Hameed said that in November 10,00,000 deserving people had been sent support under this scheme while next month this number would reach to 13,00,000 people. He said that the Punjab government had prepared a database of 10,00,000 deserving people and handed it over to Nadra and in charge Benazir Income Support Scheme so as to avoid double support to deserving people.
He said that that deserving people should contact their respective MPA or local post office if they failed to get the support. Regarding Ghee prices, he said that the government of Punjab took up the issue of ghee prices first and now it was getting samples of ghee checked to curb selling of substandard ghee.
