A colorful and lively exhibition of traditional handicrafts at a local hotel on Tuesday depicted how young entrepreneurs of National University of Modern Languages are trying to start their careers. The exhibition displayed a distinct variety of garments, Pashmina shawls, Swat shawls, Hunza and Gojal handicrafts, leather jackets and Central Asian products.
The event was organised by Theya's, a local company, Zong and Bake Well. A distinct variety of household appliances, accessories, and decorations for homes and offices were also put on display. A large number of students besides other thronged on the exhibition. Head of Theya's, Irum Mubarik said the exhibition was aimed at promoting traditional fabrics as part of the country's cultural heritage to both domestic and international markets.
She said that since these young entrepreneurs were not getting any concrete support from the well established businesses for their launch Theya's came forward to support them along with two other brands. In addition to highlighting different forms of products, the young entrepreneurs also showed the skills and creativity, which came up with truly original ideas for marketing these products.
Pakistan with its rich cultural heritage and diversity inherited from its ancient civilisation should open its cultural windows to the world, which would help remove any misconception and improve its image around the world, a visitor on the stall observed. These days competition is intense and yet interestingly new and new faces are emerging in Pakistani entrepreneurial market.
We want to inculcate the culture of holding such events where outstanding students and entrepreneurs from all over the country meet to improve the standard of our products, Irum said. Visitors agreed that such exhibitions could pull out the hidden genius of the students, getting experience and seeing people of different caliber.-PR
