Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed suspension of Food Controller Kohat, Ashfaq Khan and handing him over to anti-corruption department within 24-hour due to his involvement in flour smuggling.
These directives were given by the two-member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Ziauddin Khattak while hearing suo motu case regarding smuggling and provision of substandard flour in the province.
The honourable judge also directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Malik Mohammad Naveed and Commandant, Frontier Constabulary (FC) Zafarullah to deploy honest police officials on the check post connecting tribal area to control the smuggling of the essential commodity.
He said that political agents have no powers to issue permits on their own and they should have to get permission from the Chief Secretary NWFP through FATA Secretariat. The court further directed the provincial government that in case of refusal of Punjab to supply flour then it could purchase best quality flour from any country of the world.
