Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Thursday took Suo Motu notice on a press report regarding protest over death of a person who was allegedly tortured to death by Deena Police (Jehlum). Chief Justice directed the DPO Jehlum to appear in person along with the detailed report of the matter within a week in the Supreme Court.
The report regarding protest of an old man who alleged his son Raja Ashraf was tortured to death, appeared in Daily Khabrain on November 12 and in Dawn on November 13. On Tuesday, the old man along with his family also staged a protest outside Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club camp office to seek justice. He was carrying some photographs of his son's dead body which was speaking louder about torture over the deceased person. Raja Ashraf, resident of Deena was the only earning hand of his family said the old man and begged for justice.
