Citi employees joined together in volunteer service to celebrate the third Global Community Day recently. Employees from 100 countries and 600 cities participated in over a thousand volunteer events across the world. Citi Pakistan employees in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore voluntarily forfeited their weekend to devote time to their communities as part of Citi's global effort to celebrate employee volunteerism.
More than 150 volunteers across Pakistan, including employees and their families and friends, worked on Saturday, November 08 to provide support to six different projects in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
30 volunteers participated in " Paint a School" and " Clean Up & Plant A Tree " activity for DIL (Development In Literacy) schools in Orangi Town in collaboration with Horticultural Society of Pakistan (HSP) in Karachi. 40 volunteers geared up to paint the school for the underprivileged children run by The Citizen's Foundation School (TCF) in Lahore.
In Islamabad, 50 volunteers teamed up with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and American Red Cross (ARC) to donate blood and attend their volunteer recruitment program in addition to a book donation drive held at 26 branches throughout Pakistan. Almost 250 books were collected for children aged 4 - 14 years and donated to The Citizens Foundation.
Citi Country Officer and Managing Director, Arif Usmani and several of Citi's senior management were all part of the volunteer brigade. TCF Regional Manager Colonel Anwer also present at the Lahore event said, "We are thankful to Citi Volunteers for their time, effort and dedication. Though painting a school is quite a tedious task, the enthusiasm exhibited by Citi Volunteers made this activity very enjoyable." Ateeb Siddiqui, Director Operations, PRCS also said.
"It is heartening to see Citi employees being so generous with their free time, and moreover we really appreciate the positive impact this day has had on our young patients." Citi employees are encouraged to devote time to community service and celebrate such efforts with families and friends. Citi not only supports volunteerism but also rewards it through a Volunteer Incentive program, dedicated volunteer days, and a Volunteer Management system.
