The Swiss franc on Friday gained ground against the euro but retreated against the yen as investors moved back to the perceived safety of the yen amid concerns about the global economy. The franc was up 0.5 percent against the euro at 1.51 per euro at from 1.5181 in New York trading.
But the Swiss currency was down 1 percent against the yen at 81.43 against 82.34. The franc was 0.3 percent lower against the dollar, trading at 1.1883 against 1.1853 in New York.
