Cantonment Board Multan (CBM) in collaboration with Mango Growers Association Pakistan (MGAP) planted a mango sapling in the Cantonment Garden, Multan. District Nazim Multan, Mian Faisal Mukhtar besides a large number of members of the Mango Growers Association Pakistan and civil and military officials, attended the mango tree plantation ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion the president Mango Growers Association Pakistan Syed Zahid Hussain Gardezi said that the unique mango tree plantation ceremony in Cantonment Garden is not only a tribute to the mango growers of South Punjab, but it also depicts the strong desire of the people of the region to get recognition of the oldest global inhabited city Multan as the "MANGO CITY OF PAKISTAN".
Syed Zahid Hussain Gardezi said that it is a passionate wish of the Mango Growers Association Pakistan for massive plantation of mango trees in Parks and recreational areas in the city during spring and autumn tree plantation campaigns to highlight the true spirit of the Mango City and its exposure on the global map as the region is producing world class mangoes.
MGAP president said that the mango saplings being planted in the cantonment garden have been obtained from the premier certified mango nursery of the Mango Research Station Shujabad and represent the hard work of our agriculture scientists. Addressing the august gathering, president Cantonment Board Multan Brigadier Asim Nawaz Khan paid rich tribute to the mango growers of the region.
He said that CBM would do all what is possible for Mango Growers Association Pakistan to make the region and mango growers prosperous. He emphasised the need to strengthen growers association to enable growers to achieve their objectives under one platform. He said unity and dedication amongst mango growers would go a long way in inculcating prosperous future for the growers and Pakistan.
CBM president said that he was glad Mango Growers Association has stood fast in highlighting mango growers problems even during difficult times and appreciated the team spirit. Later the president Mango Growers Association Pakistan Syed Zahid Hussain Gardezi presented MGAP emblem to President Cantonment Board Multan Brigadier Asim Nawaz Khan, Chief Executive Officer CBM Khawaja Iftikhar Mir and Vice President CBM Haji Fazal Hussain.
