A series of consultative meetings has been planned for police interaction and training for improved policing of human rights' violations and advocating police reform by 'Shehri-Citizens for Better Environment' (CBE) under its national project for participatory citizens.
Shehri-CBE, a Karachi-based non-profit organisation (an NGO), is conducting this year-long project on the subject. The NGO works on a variety of issues with special emphasis on managing dialogues and interactions between local people and government agencies on issues and concerns that require joint action and participation.
To achieve its goal, Shehri-CBE would organise the first consultative meeting on 'From Police Order to Police Act' here at a hotel on November 20. The meeting will focus on brief revisiting of various efforts for police reform, discussion on the police order and the way forward, examining of the experience from the police personnel perspective of previous reform efforts, and examining as to what needs to be done from the police service perspective.
