Pakistan embassy in Bangkok has failed to provide any assistance to the Pakistani passengers who have been stranded at Bangkok international airport due to suspension of flights. More than 100 Pakistanis have been stranded at Bangkok international airport for last two days due to closure of the airport amid protests against Thai prime minister.
The official of Pakistan embassy in Bangkok failed to help the stranded passengers except a lady member of the National Assembly. According to Naveed A Andarabi, President, Pakistan Tax Bar Association, who is also among the stranded passengers, the embassy officials brought back the lady member, Asma Arbab Alamgir, wife of a federal minister by giving her VVIP protocol.
Talking to Business Recorder over phone from Bangkok Andarabi said that Pakistan embassy in Bangkok gave full protocol to the MNA, leaving rest of the stranded Pakistani passengers at the mercy of protesters. He alleged that the embassy officials have not given any kind of help to the passengers for clearance of their luggage or suitable accommodation. The stranded passengers were further shocked when the embassy officials did this thing, he added.
Andarabi said that the Pakistanis, who reached Bangkok international airport, were unable to go anywhere due to closure of the airport. Their passports were taken by the Thai immigration officials and they were unable to travel anywhere due to non-cooperation of the embassy personals.
In a text message sent to this scribe, Andarabi on Friday said that Indian embassy is in constant touch with its people, which has made Pakistanis more angry as it seems Pakistan has no embassy in Bangkok. He further said that a large number of old persons, children and families have also been stuck and need immediate help. He demanded of the government to take strict action against the embassy officials. The Foreign Office spokesman could not be reached for comments.
