Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan on Sunday telephoned Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed bilateral relations and shared views on regional and global situation. According to the Foreign Office spokesman, foreign minister briefed Turkish foreign minister about Pakistan's relations with India after terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
He said that Pakistan shared the grief of India and the families of innocent victims of this incident. Pakistan was one of the first countries to strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and offered all possible assistance. Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism and considers it a menace to humanity which must be eliminated, the minister maintained.
The Turkish foreign minister lauded Pakistan's role in fight against militant extremism and expressed support to the efforts being made by Islamabad to engage New Delhi constructively. After the Mumbai carnage and levelling of allegations by certain quarters in India, Pakistan has accelerated its diplomatic efforts to present the Pakistan viewpoint and convincing the world that Pakistan has no role in the incident.
