Railways shelves marriage coach project

Pakistan Railways has shelved the marriage coach project and decided to use these coaches as normal class train owing to lack of interest by the people due to high cost. "We have decided to turn these coaches into ordinary class train as the people were least interested to avail this expensive service and the project was becoming burden for the department," said a senior officer of Pakistan Railways on Sunday.
The aim of the project was to facilitate the newly wedded couples but people has taken no interest in engaging the special service in view of high costs and inconvenience. He said that Pakistan Railway still provides this service on special demand but so far no such case has come forth. Millions of rupees were spent on the manufacturing of these coaches, which had 24 berths of AC business class and one bedroom.
