The management at Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has introduced an 'Engineering Qualification Allowance (EQA)', as part of initiative to encourage professionalism within its ranks.
According to a press release issued by the company on Monday, all engineers having acquired degrees from universities recognised by HEC would be eligible for allowances calculated based on their total experience with KESC, in addition to their salaries. It said the EQA, effective from December 1, 2008, is part of a wide-ranging program aimed at maximising the value of human capital in the organisation.
"As a professional engineering service engaged in generating and distributing electricity to a city, KESC depends on the professional expertise and commitment of its engineers. The EQA is gesture by the management to recognise this professionalism among our own people." Jahangir Azar, Director, Industrial Relations, said.
The release said this experience-based allowance had been implemented in recognition of changing market dynamics and the desire by company's management to acknowledge services of the engineers who had added value to the organisation's workings. -PR
