Dr Fida Muhammad Khan has joined Khyber Medical University (KMU) Hayatabad, Peshawar as Project Director, Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences. Dr Fida is PhD in Health Care Management from Washington International University USA. He got his MBBS degree from Khyber Medical College Peshawar.
Dr Fida is an old Edwardian as well and he did his matric from University Public School Peshawar. He belongs to a notable Dawar tribal family of Miran Shah, North Waziristan Agency, NWFP. He has a vast experience in infectious diseases, healthcare associated infections, public health management, uses of antibiotics and special interests in management of MRSA patients in healthcare. His research interests are Hepatitis A, B, C, and HIV/AIDS. Dr Fida has obtained MPH degree from School of Public Health, University of Texas Heath Sciences Centre at Houston USA.
He has also got diploma in Tropical Medicine from Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons in Ireland. He is Board Certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology from USA. He has also been a research trainee at Centre of Infectious Diseases at University of Texas Health Sciences Centre, Houston, USA. He has served as head of hospital infection control programme in major hospitals at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr Fida Muhammad Khan presented various papers on different public health topics all over the world. Recently he has been trained and designated as Master Trainer in Assessment and Testing in Semester system in University Examination by Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. He has also been a healthcare surveyor and worked with Joint commission International Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions in USA.
He has also been a member of Community and Hospital Infection Control Association in Canada and a member of Association of Professionals in Infection Control in USA. It is worth mentioning here that Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences is a first constituent institute of Khyber Medical University where Master in Public Health Programme would be started from January 1, 2009, under the KMU vision 2015, which has been recently approved by the KMU syndicate. -PR
