Attacks in Mumbai: Pakistan should not adopt apologetic attitude, says Hashmi
Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Central Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has said that Pakistan should not adopt apologetic attitude and "It is in Pakistan's and India's interest to defuse and lower the tension." India should not blame Pakistan for terror attacks in Mumbai for electioneering rather the concerned government should interrogate terrorist groups working in its own territory.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday he said, "Indian government should not canvass by accusing Pakistan for terrorist attacks in Mumbai and dragging latter into conflict." He said no doubt, terror attack was an inhuman activity and we strongly condemn it but any design against Pakistan would never be tolerated as the government and people of Pakistan always supported peace. Hashmi said if India does not give up blame game against Pakistan, it would drag whole South Asian region into conflict. "We want peaceful relations between two nuclear powers of the region and any such conflict would never be in the interest of the two neighbouring states," said Javed Hashmi. He said we too had been victims of terrorism since long and India should not forget that terrorists also hit Islamabad Marriott Hotel that claimed dozens of lives.
PML-N leader was of the view that the government should extend its support to Indian government for investigation, living in the parameters of diplomatic norms, but without putting the national dignity and security at stake. He said the government should approach the political leadership of the country for devising a strategy to tackle the situation and counter Indian propaganda against Pakistan. He said India should not make Pakistan a scapegoat to cover its weaknesses and we would not allow any statements bashing Pakistan.
