Vets Care Club (established under the auspices of Vets Care Organisation) is arranging four-day free veterinary treatment camp at Bakkar Mandi, Lahore for providing relief to the sick sacrificial animals from December 03 to 06. The Club has been organising this camp since 2001 regularly on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha every year at Bakkar Mandi, Lahore.
Every year on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, a large number of animals is transported from far away areas of the province to the provincial capital. The animal traders usually do not observe the animal rights during long distance transportation while overloading is also very common. The non-stop transportation of several hours takes place without feeding and watering to these animals, club organisers said.
These animals go through extreme stress during travelling, especially while they are loaded and unloaded from the vehicles. After reaching to destination, the animals are not provided with proper care and management due to lack of proper facilities and unawareness. Due to stress of long transportation, improper management and extreme weather conditions, these animals are easily inflicted with serious diseases, which not only badly affect the health of animals but are also responsible for economic losses to the farmers. The University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences' Vets Care Club is working for the welfare of animals and uplift of veterinary profession in Pakistan.
