The President, PML-N Lawyers Forum, Khawaja Mahmood Ahmad has said that the Chief Justice, Abdul Hameed Dogar should step down in a week otherwise, lawyers would launch a struggle to dislodge him. Addressing a press conference, Mahmood said that bar associations and councils have already been taken into confidence about the need to launch a movement against Justice Dogar and added.
'We are all on the same path.' He said people have lost trust in the system of justice, as Justice Dogar managed additional marks for his daughter and asked the NA committee to proceed with the probe and take it to its logical end. Further, he said that Article 68 of the Constitution did not restrict the parliament from proceeding into the matter, which did not fall under a judge's duties.
Ahmad said that the Chief Justice should appear before the committee and explain his position. 'Tthe federal government is hatching conspiracies against Punjab government through its Governor, Salmaan Taseer,' he claimed. Further, the Chief Justice, Lahore High Court could not be named as the acting governor, when there exists a distribution between judicial and executive powers.
