Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has written letters to Governor Salmaan Taseer , President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the issue of confirmation of ad hoc judges and reinstatement of judges bypassing the Chief Minister.
He has raised a question that under the Constitution of the country, without attaining the requisite advice, all steps taken would be ineffective. The letter raises the question why, in confirmation and reinstatement of judges, the requisite of the Constitution was ignored. The letter to the Governor demands explanation for the events under which ousted judges were reinstated.
The Chief Minister, quoted Article 105 Rule (1) 12 read with Punjab Government Rules of Business Schedule, three part- A, which makes it necessary that advice of the Chief Minister was necessary. He has shown dismay that these steps were contrary to the spirit of provincial autonomy and the constitution of the country.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced Rs 20,00,000 for the families of rescue workers who lost their lives in the Gakhar Plaza Rawalpindi inferno. He also announced Rs 5,00,000 for other people who lost their life in inferno. The Chief Minister was talking to journalists after chairing a meeting for development of Lahore here on Sunday.
