Naheed Khan, close aide of later Benazir Bhutto and her political secretary, on Saturday criticised Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government for ignoring party workers and not providing them jobs. Talking to newsmen on phone, Naheed Khan said despite a lapse of one year after the assassination of Benazir, the government failed to initiate probe into her killing.
Why the UN delaying the appointment of an inquiry commission, she asked. She said people wanted to see Benazir's killers hanged. Naheed said that Benazir was a visionary leader, who wanted to empower the people by providing them quality education, bread and butter and shelter. She said that Benazir sacrificed her own life to change the socio-economic conditions of the people, adding that it was the PPP government's duty to materialise her dreams.
She said that although Prime Minister Gilani had promised to provide Rs 50 million for the upgradation of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital a few months ago, but the federal government failed to release the amount.
She said the PPP government had done nothing for the welfare of the party workers who had sacrificed their lives for Benazir's mission.
