Five fire fighters, including the team leader of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah Cantt sacrificed their lives during rescue operation conducted at Gakkhar Plaza in Rawalpindi.
While confirming the deaths, Tariq Mehboob, a POF Spokesman on Sunday said that as many as 15 fire fighters and two fire engines of POF participated in the rescue operation at Gakhar Plaza on the call of Rawalpindi district administration.
He said that during the operation five fire fighters namely Muhammad Sabir, Muhammad Irshad, Naveed Ahmed, Muhammad Zahid and their team leader Faisal Ghaffor lost their lives. He said that another fire fighter Muhammad Haneef was rescued from the rubble of the plaza and his condition was stated to be out of danger.
He informed that the dead bodies of these fire fighters were brought to Wah Cantt from different hospitals of Rawalpindi on Sunday. Fire fighting unit of the POF is ranked among the top ranking fire-fighting squads of the country with well trained and fully equipped crew and machinery.
