The Government of Japan granted a financial support of 71,101 dollar (approx. Rs 5.7 million) under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects to the Al-Mustafa Development Network, a non-governmental organisation, for the implementation of the project "Construction of Girls' Primary School in District Neelam, AJK."
Chihiro Atsumi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan and Muhammad Hanif Executive Director, Al Mustafa Development Network signed the agreement for the project on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Japanese Ambassador's residence in Islamabad.
Through this construction, 127 additional female students will be provided with a comfortable, tranquil and safe educational environment. These students were previously denied admission due to the lack of physical capacity in the schools.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Atsumi said that the Government of Japan gives priority to the education and human resources development sector and has been extending Japanese Official Development Assistance to help Pakistani female students receive primary education.
Ambassador Atsumi also expressed his hope that this project would contribute to the human resources development of Pakistan and thus further strengthen the already existing friendly ties between the people of Japan and Pakistan.-PR
