Improvement in law and order: body to finalise recommendations after Muharram, Senate told

The Senate was informed on Wednesday that the Parliamentary Committee on National Security would finalise recommendations to improve rule of law in the country soon after the Muharram ul Harram.
Leader of the House in Senate Raza Rabbani said the committee was briefed by Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and Defence, Director General ISI and Governor and Chief Minister NWFP regarding the current situation in the province and Fata.
He said the Parliament's body would finalise its recommendations in the light of the mandate given by the joint session of the Parliament and would present them to the government to incorporate in its policies. He said it must be realised that the prevailing situation in Fata is very grim as "it is not militancy but an insurgency with multi dimensional factors."
The government, he said was aware of the situation and was pursuing the "3 Ds", Dialogue, Development and Deterrence policy to control the law and order situation. Rabbani condemned the Bara incident in which two persons were kidnapped and prosecuted by militants on Tuesday. He said there is no magic wand with the government to eliminate terrorism within a few days, however, he said the process is time consuming and requires consistent efforts which are underway.
