Like other parts of the globe, the Christian community is celebrating Christmas with vigour and high spirits across Pakistan on Thursday. The X-mas celebrations commenced with mass services at the main churches in different parts of the country on Wednesday midnight while the morning services will also be held on Thursday in which special prayers for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country will be made.
The Christians have decorated their homes with the traditional Christmas trees and star while they will present gifts to each other. Christmas carol competitions would also be held among teams consisting of youths from various Churches.
Santa Claus distributed gifts among children while congregational dinners were held at various churches amid stringent security measures adopted by the law-enforcing agencies. Family lunches and dinners will also be held on the Christmas Day on December 25. Talking to Business Recorder with reference to Christmas celebrations, Christian leaders said that the celebrations are aimed at bringing the community together.
They said that the celebrations started from the first week of December in the form of family reunions and other functions. Besides, holding prayer services, church members visited the houses of unprivileged Christians and distributed gifts and clothes amongst them.
