Joint Commissioner Mangla Dam Resettlement Organisation and Chairman Allotment Committee Mahmood Khan has said that the process for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the affectees of ongoing Mangla dam raising project is being started soon.
Chairing a meeting of the allotment committee, held here on Tuesday to kick off the allotment of plots in sector-F of New Mirpur city, Mahmood Khan said that residential sector-F will be consisted of 13 sub-sectors and it will have the consolidated housing of the population of all said sub-sectors. He said that allotment in all 13 sub-sectors would be made through secret balloting.
The process for rehabilitation will also involve special focus to extend maximum relief through compensation in line with the already determined mass rehabilitation programme set by the government, the Joint Commissioner said. Members of the allotment committee apprised the Joint Commissioner of reservations and apprehensions of the affectees including refugees vis-a-vis their timely rehabilitation.
The Joint Commissioner said that Mangla dam affectees would be provided with maximum relief in the light of the orders of AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan. He said that besides AJK Prime Minister, Mangla Dam Affairs Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Minister for Water and Power will soon visit new Mirpur city and four small towns, being constructed in the district for housing the displayed Mangla dam affectees. He said that Wapda was actively involved for the development of plots at the town comprising all latest civic amenities.
He said that allotment of plots will start soon after the completion of the development works including the under-construction roads and water and electricity supply and sewerage. He said that the procedure of allotment was being inked. He said a separate allotment authority would be set up soon after the settlement of the allotment.
Mahmood Khan said that the proposed mega project of over Rs One billion two-km long Mirpur-Islamgarh cable-stay bridge or Rathua-Harriyam bridge over Mangla dam lake was currently in process and construction work on the project will be executed soon after completion of the ongoing paper work.
