Yaum-e-Umar was observed on Tuesday with religious fervour in Sindh to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of the second Khalifa-e-Rashida, Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA). A seminar on "Yaum-e-Shahadat Farooq Azam (RA) and New Islamic Year" was held at the Shah Abdul Latif University. Thousands of Ulema, scholars and students attended the seminar.
Speakers lauded the valuable services of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) to Islam, and said, "his era was the golden chapter in the history of Islam." Speakers said the caliphate of Hazrat Umar (RA) was a model of exemplary governance, which would continue to provide guidance to the world till the Day of Judgement.
