US copper futures crept higher Wednesday in dealings thinned out by the looming New Year holiday but worries linger over demand prospects in 2009 due to an ailing world economy, analysts said. The copper market will be closed on Thursday, January 1, for New Year.
Trading resumes on Friday, January 2. Copper for March delivery gained 2.55 cents at $1.346 a lb on the New York Mercantile Exchange's Comex division. The session range is from $1.314 to $1.36.
