Traders of the Jodia Bazaar on Wednesday expressed anger at the unauthentic news report aired by a private TV channel about the bomb blast outside the City Court spread panic among the traders and customers and resulted in instant closure of shops and public pell-mell.
Talking to Business Recorder after the news report, they said that such news reports are seen as irresponsible journalism primarily aimed at sensationalisation that could result in chaos in the city. They said that they were panicked in the wake of this news. Business activities came a to complete standstill and public rushed from the Bazaar immediately.
They said that the team of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) was busy in cleanliness work near City Court Canteen No 03, when they found a box. When the team tried to remove box from the road the box was broken into pieces and the fire works material, which is packed fell onto the road.
They said journalists from various private TV channels came in the market and start unauthentic reporting that at least five people were injured in a bomb explosion near City Court, but the reality is that only push-cart driver receive a minor foot injury.
