It is high time for Mumtaz Bhutto to recognise the writing on the wall, and resign from politics, as he enjoys no support from the masses. This was said by a statement issued by Sindh Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ayaz Soomro on Wednesday in response to Bhutto's "baseless statements" aimed at maligning the Pakistan Peoples Party government.
"Mumtaz Bhutto has never had the people's interests at heart, his actions have always been dishonest and motivated by personal gains," he alleged, adding that Bhutto had lost any respect people had for him after he began conspiring against PPP and its leadership.
Soomro termed Bhutto's accusation that the government was doing nothing to bring the murderers of Benazir Bhutto to justice "a cheap trick to get quick publicity and an under handed attempt to come in the limelight." He said had Bhutto sincerely eared about the great leader, he would not have so vehemently opposed her during her lifetime.
"The PPP is taking revenge in the way prescribed by its Shaheed Quaid and already a great change has been witnessed in Pakistan directly through adherence to the non-violent and reconciliatory ideology of Benazir Bhutto," he added. He said opportunistic self-serving individuals, like Mumtaz Bhutto, had always tried to belittle Benazir's struggle for her people.
"Mumtaz Bhutto has remained a lout of dictators and therefore, his opposition to the democratic government comes as no surprise," Soomro alleged. Expressing his "deep disgust at the way Bhutto was now attempting to cash in on the Shahadat of Benazir," the provincial law minister warned him that the people would not accept this disrespect to the memory of their beloved Quaid.
