Special Secretary Finance NWFP Zainullah Khan retired on Friday from government service. In this connection, the officers of the department of finance held a farewell function. NWFP Minister for Finance Muhammad Hamayun Khan also attended the function.
Those who attended the function included Secretary Finance Ziaur Rahman, Additional Secretaries Suhail Aftab, Usman Gul, Murad Khan, Director SAC Abdul Samad Khan, Director Co-ordination Saifur Rahman Usmani, Director Treasury Bashir Khan, Director Power Kiramat Ali Rizvi, Deputy Secretaries Nazir Awan, Shah Sahib, Masood Shah, Muhammad Khan, Zahirullah Khan, Mushtaq and other officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Muhammad Hamayun Khan underscored the importance of the finance department in all other government departments and commended the services of the officers of the NWFP finance department in the overall establishment and financial activities.
The minister finance said that as political representatives' existence in the government was timely, but the officers and other staff are the permanent asset of the government. He said he had observed personally the contribution Zainullah Khan had made with the finance department and after retirement his link with him would not end.
He said his services would fully be obtained in future planning and expressed hope that retirement would not cut their relationship with Zainullah Khan. He said Zainullah Khan always played a vital role in the preparation of the provincial budget and he fully felt his contribution even during late nights.
Appreciating the services of his colleague, the officers of the finance department were of the view that the most experienced persons were proceeding on retirement, which was a challenge for the existing officers.
They said a compulsory system needed to be adopted in the FD so that the experienced retired officers could be consulted in the official matters after their retirement. They especially lauded the behaviour of Zainullah Khan with all the officers and subordinate staff.
The function ended with special pray and lot of commendations for the peaceful future life of the retired special secretary finance. Later, the minister finance presented gifts on behalf of the finance department to Zainullah Khan. Officers of the FD also gave away gifts to their retired colleague.
