Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Friday took two suo motu notices in different human rights cases on press reports pertaining to the incidents. The CJ took suo motu notice on news item regarding rape of Rehana Bibi by two police officers namely Abdul Qayoom and Sub Inspector Natiq Shah of police post Nasirabad.
Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar directed regional police officer Rawalpindi to report the matter on January 6, 2009 and further directed the CPO Rawalpindi to appear personally along with the detailed report and victim on the same date in the Supreme Court.
In another case in which appeal of Mst. Fakhra Bisharat appeared in daily Khabrain (Islamabad) here on Friday, requesting therein that federal police tortured three persons who were coming from Gujranwala after attending the marriage ceremony of their close relative and police opened fire showing them as terrorist, chief justice took suo motu notice. The CJ directed the IG (Islamabad) to report the matter on January 5, 2009 and further directed SSP (Islamabad) to appear personally along with the detailed report, applicant and culprits in the Supreme Court.
