Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan S.M. Arif has congratulated to the management of District Accounts Office (DAO) Hyderabad for completing their target for preparation of finance accounts of 2007-2008 by December 31, 2008 and termed DAO Hyderabad as the model district for this pilot project.
This he observed while presiding over meeting of District Accounts Officers of ex-Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions at District Accounts Office Hyderabad today.
Addressing the meeting, the Controller General Accounts of Pakistan S.M. Arif said that Hyderabad District Accounts Office was nominated for preparation of finance accounts of district along with other selected districts of other provinces as pilot project but Hyderabad District Accounts Officer due to hard working leaded in the country by achieving its target by the December 31, 2008. He further said that it was the first time in the history that all finance accounts have been completed within same calendar year and added that it was very rare in other countries.
The Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan said that the same task was being extended to the accounts officers of other districts and directed them to follow the working of Hyderabad district and to ensure the completion of the task of financial accounts of district within given period.
While emphasising on the efficient services deliveries to the government employees, the Controller General Accounts of Pakistan directed the management concerned for providing immediate relief especially to the retired government employees in releasing G.P. Funds and Pension to them on priority basis. He directed that unnecessary objections and delay in finalisation of G.P. Funds and Pension cases be avoided failing which strict action would be taken against responsible.
He said that there is still need of providing training to relevant staff members and termed it essential for improvement in services. He further said that the training to the relevant employees would also be carried out on the recommendation of concerned District Accounts Officer. He said that accuracy and timeliness in accounts would not only to provide better services to the working class people but also to expedite the development activities in the country.
The Accountant General Sindh Ghufran Memon briefed the Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan about the financial working in his and sub ordinate offices. He stressed upon the officers for keeping close co-ordination with the district administrative officers of concerned district. He said that now the task completed by District Accounts Office Hyderabad has been extended to other districts as well, and he would conduct frequent visits of these districts to ensure that targets given to them be completed within time frame.
District Account Officer Hyderabad Latif Dino Soomro welcomed the visiting Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan and AG Sindh and also briefed them about the strategy that he and his management adopted to achieve the goals with time frame.
The Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan S.M. Arif along with AG Sindh and other officers visited different sections of the DAO Hyderabad and inquired from the employees about their problems and difficulties and assured for redressal of same.
