Sugar and barley rose while plastic mouldings depicted mixed pattern and the remaining commodities shed quite in time with world trend during the week ended on January 3, 2009.

Plastic mouldings compound (per Lb): HDPE film Saudia 952 closed lower by Re 1 to Rs 42, Mobil was lower by Rs 1.25 to Rs 41.75 and TR 144 lost Rs 1.25 to Rs 41.75. HDPE injection Sabic 200056 closed lower by Rs 9 at Rs 59, Mobile 016 rose Rs 3 to Rs 48, and Iran closed higher by Rs 4 to Rs 47. LDPE 374 rose by Rs 7 to Rs 60. LLDPE W118 rose by Rs 15 to Rs 65, 7087 rose by same amount to Rs 65 and Sabic 500026 was quoted at Rs 60. Polypropylene (film) Thai closed higher by Rs 6 to Rs 51, Kuwait rose by same amount to Rs 51 and India ended higher by Rs 6 to Rs 51. Polypropylene tape grade India rose by Re 1 to Rs 44, Kuwait gathered Re 1 to Rs 44 and Saudia closed higher by Re 1 to Rs 44. Polypropylene injection grade India closed higher by Rs 2.50 to Rs 44.50. Copoly block ended short by Rs 3 to Rs 65. ABS (per bag) polylac 707 ended lower by Rs 50 to Rs 4,350 and Iran was quoted at Rs 4,300.
Grain market depicted firmer trend where sugar inferior type rose by Rs 120 to Rs 3200 and better type rose by Rs 170 to Rs 3350. Gur posted gain of Rs 100 to Rs 3000 while the other type was quoted at Rs 3800. Barley from Sindh and Mardan was up by Rs 40 to Rs 3200 while the other was quoted at Rs 3250. Wheat with old bardana was quoted at Rs 2659 while the other was quoted Rs 2700 and new type was at Rs 2665 while the other type was quoted at Rs 2715.
Cottonseed oilcake with bag from Sindh new low type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 830 and better type rose by Rs 20 to Rs 840.
On Tuesday masoor Canada shed Rs 500 to Rs 8000, wheat wilth old bardana was quoted at Rs 2625 while new type at Rs 2640, Yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3050 while the other kind was quoted at Rs 3200. Yellow dal peas from Canada turned higher by the same amount to Rs 3350 while the other type was quoted at Rs 3350.
On Wednesday Irri-9 Sindh new inferior rose by Rs 400 to Rs 3600 while better type rose by Rs 500 to Rs 3800, Irri 6 Sindh rose by same amount to Rs 3600, basmati D-98 Shahdadkot rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4500, while better quality rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4600, Basmati Bagr Jee rose by Rs 100, basmati No 386 old low turned higher by Rs 400 to Rs 5200 while better type rose by Rs 500 to Rs 5500, basmati No 386 now low type rose by Rs 400 to Rs 4400, the other type rose by Rs 300 to Rs 4500, and super basmati Sindh low type rose by same amount to RS 5800, while better type gained Rs 400 to Rs 6000, sugar inferior rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3300 while better type was up by Rs 30 to Rs 3420, and gur better type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4000, while the inferior did not budge remaining put at Rs 3000. Cotton seed oilcake with bad Sindh new rose by Rs 30 to Rs 860 while the better type claimed higher and quoted at Rs 870 per 40 kg.
Teas registered widespread variations. Kenyan tea (per kg) D-1 A grade rose by Rs 25 to Rs 275, B grade rose by Rs 15 to Rs 255, plus C grade rose by Rs 10 to Rs 240, and C grade turned lower by Rs 10 to Rs 216. Dust A grade shed Rs 10 to Rs 200, B grade was down by same amount to Rs 190 and plus C grade dipped by Rs 15 to Rs 175, Bangladesh's tea Garden pack original rose by Rs 20 to Rs 180, Gulab ended higher by Rs 15 to Rs 175, Khushbu quoted at Rs 169 and garden pack / BoP closed higher by Rs 15 to Rs 175. On Saturday, wheat old bardana quoted at Rs 2750-2800 and wheat new Bardana registered at Rs 2765-2815. On seed side, cottonseed oilcake with bag Punjab old was at Rs 750-800, cottonseed oilcake with bag Punjab new was at Rs 830-840 and cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh was at Rs 870-900.
Following changes were noted in dyes sector: Bases China (per pound): Blue BB was quoted at Rs 450, Scarlet G closed lower by Rs 40 to Rs 110, Bordeaux GP moved upward by Rs 30 to Rs 220 and Gamet GBC went higher by Rs 10 to Rs 130. Golden Yellow X GL2 250 pc ended up by Rs 30 to Rs 380, Red X GRL 250 pc ended lower by Rs 75 to Rs 300, Turquoise X GB moved upward by Rs 200 to Rs 700, Cyrosphenine (22 lb) 100pc ended higher by Rs 50 to Rs 200 and Red 12B finished lower by Rs 20 to Rs 180.
The following changes seen in Kirana items.
Kirana items (Per 40 kg): Black pepper Singapore moved lower by Rs 700 to Rs 9,200, black pepper Ceylon edged down by Rs 800 to Rs 9000, black pepper Brazil was quoted at Rs 9,500, dry ginger (Ethiopia) moved downward by Rs 100 to Rs 3000, sago went lower by Rs 100 to Rs 1,850, and cumin seed moved upward by Rs 100 to Rs 7,700.
The following changes were observed in dry fruits: (Per 40 kg): Chaman Almond edged higher by Rs 200 to Rs 3,200, Kaghzi Wahidi moved upward by Rs 3000 to Rs 15,000, Kaghzi I went higher by Rs 2,200 to Rs 11,000, Walnut in Shell II finished up by Rs 200 to Rs 4,400, Raisin Green edged upward by Rs 400 to Rs 6,400, Sindukhani I ended moved higher by Rs 5000 to Rs 11,000, Raisin II moved upward by Rs 2000 to Rs 6000, Apricot II ended up by Rs 1600 to Rs 4000 and Chilgoza (Roasted) moved upward by Rs 4000 to Rs 36,000, Pistachio was quoted at Rs 40000/56,000 and FMS closed lower by Rs 800 to Rs 5,200.
