The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has strongly condemned the arrest of the Chairman, Sindh National Front (SNF), Mumtaz Bhutto warned the government that such acts will damage the democratic experiment in the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, the HRCP condemned the arrest and detention of Mumtaz Bhutto, the old and sick patriarch of Sindhi nationalist organisation and called it political vindictiveness.
The Commission demanded urgent action against Mumtaz's arrest said that it is better for the establishment to stop victimising the veteran SNF leader.
It is worth mentioning that the HRCP has solidarity with media persons and the government. The commission will always stand by them whenever, the state or any non-state actor threatens them.
However, in the present case the authorities have abused their powers by going after a person, who is not even mentioned in the FIR, the release added.
