Pakistan State Oil, the largest oil marketing company has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification in recognition of its secure multi-site provision of IT Services to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) offices and departments.
PSO is the first company in the country's oil and gas industry that has achieved this milestone in information security. A ceremony was organised at the PSO House on Wednesday where SGS Managing Director Syed Farrukkh Mazhar awarded ISO certification to PSO Managing Director Kalim Siddiqui. On this occasion, Siddiqui congratulated the information security team at PSO for their exquisite performance.
In Pakistan other than PSO only eleven other organisations comprising of IT companies and software houses are ISMS certified. ISO 27001:2005 reflects the quality certification as per the latest internationally recognised standards that should be implemented by information systems department of any organisation. The objective of ISO 27001 is to provide organisations with a common base for maintaining information security and assurance for the confidentiality, integrity and timely availability of information's assets.-PR
