The Lahore High Court (LHC) will hear a petition as objection case requesting the court to restrain the government from issuing a coin with image of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on January 13. The office earlier had returned the petition to the petitioner on January 01 after raising objection on it.
The office objected that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) was the proper forum in this case because the federal government had been made as party in the petition. The petitioner, Asim Bhatti, submitted that such a coin would set a precedent for the future governments to issue coins with images of their party leaders. He said that only Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal's images should be retained on coins.
