Aga Khan University's Institute of Education Development (AKU-IED) here on Tuesday invited applications for Master of Education (M.Ed) programme for academic year beginning from October 2009.
The two-year M.Ed programme with specialisation in Teacher Education; and Educational Leadership and Management focuses on re-conceptualisation of the role of participants, improvement of their subject and pedagogy in specific curriculum areas and enhancement of educational leadership and management skills.
Students will be expected to engage in teaching/management practicum, action research and writing dissertation, said the AKU-IED officials. They said that selected candidates who are unable to pay tuition fees could apply for financial assistance. The application package including the admission form, recommendation form, specialisation form, and eligibility criteria, can be obtained from Academic Administration through e-mail, post or downloaded from the AKU-IED website.
As for eligibility of the prospective candidates, the sources said they should be serving teachers, teacher educators or educational managers who have minimum of 55 percent marks in graduate or postgraduate degree from a recognised university/institution and two years teaching or management experience. Candidates who meet the above criteria will be expected to take an English language test, a logical reasoning test, and participate in an interview. A mandatory pre-session course in English language and academic writing skills will be offered to the selected candidates from August to September 2009.
Intending candidates have been advised to submit their complete applications to Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development, or via email: [email protected], not later than January 09, sources added. Incomplete applications and those received after the deadline will not be entertained. The sources said that possibility of a part-time M.Ed programme is not currently available but is under discussion.
