The Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab, Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday has strongly refuted the allegations that Punjab government is fabricating cases against its political opponents and workers on baseless charges.
He said that Punjab chief minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif does not believe in political victimisation and it is a fact that Sharif family and workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have themselves faced worst kind of state oppression and political victimisation during the tenure of the previous government.
Rashid said that the fact that the PML-N leadership, after the toppling of its government by a dictator, was exiled was a proof of the vengeful practices adopted during the rule of a dictator supported by selfish interests. Moreover, he said, 728 cases as well as hundreds of cases under MPO had been registered against as many as 9,256 political workers after the removal of democratically elected government in 1999.
These cases were registered on the occasion of the landing of Shahbaz Sharif in 2004, landing of Nawaz Sharif and judicial crisis starting from November 2007 on bogus charges.
Further, He said that Shahbaz was also involved in a fake case of killing in a police encounter in Sabzazar and the case was prolonged for nine years. The CM's Special Assistant also said that Punjab government believed in justice and fair play and not a single case of victimisation of its political opponents could be quoted during its last eight months rule.
