Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that besides the three Armed Forces, the youth of the country, the masses, the political diaspora are all ready to play their role for the defence of the country.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Cadet College Pano Aqil, the Prime Minister said no power in the world can dare to cast an evil eye on the country. No enemy can do any wrong to the country where the political, military and all other circles have a cohesive vision, he added.
He said the nation and the media are aware of the pressure on the PPP government since it came to power after February 18 elections. They are well aware of the problems and difficulty with which PPP was able to assume power.
He said some elements are unfortunately trying to destabilise the elected democratic government, however the PPP government will complete its five-year tenure. He said this area is an area of "auliya" (saints). He recounted that Multan and Sindh used to be together some time back in history and Multan used to be the area's capital.
He observed that the way of living, civilisation, culture and the spirit of forbearance of the two areas is identical. Their backwardness is also the same, which, he added, he fully realises.
The Prime Minister said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had formed a manifesto committee before the elections. Being part of this committee he was entrusted the duty to go to remote areas of all the four provinces, meet the people there and ascertain their problems so that after coming to power PPP could solve the same problems on priority basis in the light of its agenda.
Gilani said even at that time the element of education was highly important in PPP manifesto and after coming to power health and education together form the government's important priorities.
He noted that fortunately both Federal Minister for Education Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and Federal Minister for Health Aijaz Ali Jakhrani hail form Sindh province.
The Prime Minister said that students, the Armed Forces and individual of the civil society will be educated effectively with the establishment of Cadet College, Pano Aqil and will play a very significant role for the defence of the country.
He said Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a towering world leader. Pakistan has been deprived of her leadership and no one can fill the void left by her, he added.
The PM, however expressed determination that together "we will promote the vision and the thoughts of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to strengthen Pakistan and the Party, for making Pakistan a welfare state. He said the government will set up more such institutions and in a short span of time, giant projects would be launched about which PPP had made commitments.
